The Surya Sasthi Samaj Kalyan Youth Football Gold Cup Tournament, organised by the Nowgong Sports Association under the patronage of the Surya Sasthi Samaj Kalyan Samiti, commenced on 7 August 2026 at Nurul Amin Stadium. The three-day tournament has been organised with the objective of nurturing and developing the footballing talent of young players from the Football Training Centre of the Nowgong Sports Association.
For the tournament, the participating players have been divided into four teams named Sonai FC, Kolong FC, Kapili FC and Nonoi FC. The opening match of the competition witnessed an impressive performance from Nonoi FC, who secured a convincing 6–1 victory over Kolong FC.
Rishiraj Barman scored twice for Nonoi FC in the 18th and 55th minutes, while Nayan Debnath also netted two goals in the 37th and 38th minutes. Dushyanth Bora completed the scoring for Nonoi FC with goals in the 63rd and 66th minutes. Kolong FC's lone goal was scored by Atif Zaman in the 58th minute.
The match was officiated by referee Pranab Patar, assisted by Banshree Bora and Anamika Dekaraja, with Krishnakanta Das serving as the fourth official.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by Nowgong Sports Association General Secretary Tapan Kumar Das. The inaugural ceremony was attended by NSA Joint Secretary Ujjal Baruah, Football Section Secretary Prantar Kumar Bhattacharyya, Hockey Section Secretary Mohan Chandra Bora, Swimming Section Secretary Samir Hazarika and Executive Member Sanjay Kumar Mahatu.
Also present on the occasion were former national referee Nasiruddin Ahmed, sports pensioner Shashindra Dev Mahanta, Surya Shashthi Samaj Kalyan Samiti President Shyam Babu Shah, Secretary Arjun Kumar Mahatu and Treasurer Ramakanta Sharma, along with office bearers D. N. Prasad, Nanda Kishore Singh, Premchand Chauhan, Rekha Singh and Ganesh Gupta, among others.
The tournament will continue until 9 August 2026. In Saturday's fixture, Sonai FC will take on Kapili FC in what promises to be another exciting encounter.
