The Nagaon District Inter-School Cricket Tournament 2026 commenced with great enthusiasm at the Nurul Amin Stadium, Nagaon, on 10 June 2026. The tournament was formally inaugurated by Shri Devasish Sarmah, Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon, in the presence of distinguished officials of the Nowgong Sports Association, including Shri Tapan Sarmah (Vice President), Shri Tapan Kr. Das (General Secretary), Shri Asim Kr. Bhowal (Treasurer), Shri Ujjal Baruah (Joint Secretary), Shri Debajit Das (Ground Secretary), and Shri Mrinal Kr. Hazarika (Sectional Secretary, Cricket).

The opening ceremony was further graced by the presence of principals from eight leading educational institutions of Nagaon, who attended as Guests of Honour and were felicitated by the organizers. The dignitaries included Shri Leslie Mathew, Principal of Loyola English Medium High School; Shri Simon Thomas, Principal of St. Antony's High School, Nagaon; Shri Basanta Kumar Goswami, Principal of Nagaon Govt. Boys' H.S. School; Shri Dilip Kumar Borah, Principal of Ramanujan Senior Secondary School; Dr. Mrinal Jyoti Bezbaruah, Principal of Concept Senior Secondary School; Shri Manabendra Sarmah Kaushik, Principal of Gurukul Global Academy; Smt. Sanjana Karim, Principal of Kiddis Land EM High School; and Smt. Jumlee Saikia, Principal of Om Prakash Jajodia Hindi High School.

The tournament, which will continue until 18 June 2026, features participation from sixteen schools across the district. Organized with the objective of promoting cricket and fostering sportsmanship among young students, the event provides a valuable platform for budding cricketers to showcase their talent and competitive spirit.
