Organized by the Nowgong Sports Association, the 5th Bajrang Lal Nahata Memorial Inter-Club Sports Meet 2026 was held at Nurul Amin Stadium from 20 March. The sports meet featured competitions in nine disciplines, excluding football, cricket, and swimming, with participation from a total of twelve affiliated branches of the association. At the beginning of the Inaugural ceremony, a ceremonial lamp was lit in front of the portrait of the late Bajrang Lal Nahata by the Vice President of the Nowgong Sports Association and retired Joint Director of the Health Department, Dr. Krishna Kumar Bora. The inaugural programme was conducted by General Secretary Tapan Kumar Das, while Joint Secretary Ujjal Barua delivered the welcome address. The programme was attended by Prem Nahata, son of the late Bajrang Lal Nahata, along with family members, Vice Presidents Dr. Krishna Kumar Bora and Prashanta Kumar Bora, retired professor of Dhing College and former sportsperson Birendra Nath Saikia, sports organizer Pramod Kothari, and other office bearers of the association including Asim Kumar Bhawal, Anil Das, Bhavjyoti Das, Diganta Bora, Samir Hazarika, and Sanjay Kumar Mahato. On the opening day, ten clubs participated in the men's category and four clubs in the women's category of the table tennis event. Meanwhile, a total of 18 clubs took part in the badminton event, as informed by Anil Das, Secretary of the Badminton Branch of the association. The competitions in various events continued until 28 March, while the closing ceremony of the sports week was scheduled to be held on 30 March.
